Olivia Moultrie came up big for the U.S. women’s national team on Tuesday, scoring twice in her first USWNT start.

The team defeated the Dominican Republic 5-0, with Moultrie opening the scoring. In doing so, she became the 33rd teenager to score for the USWNT. It was also the first goal in W Gold Cup history.

“Obviously the moment was extremely exciting,” Moultrie said. “I’m so grateful to be a part of this team, to have the opportunity to start tonight. The bigger point for me is it helped contribute to the win.”

Then, after the half, Moultrie tallied a second off a pass from Midge Purce, who finished with two assists.

“That’s my little one,” Purce said of Moultrie, her former Portland Thorns teammate that she said she used to drive to practice and train with in Moultrie’s backyard.

“I’m so proud of her."
